Program

Morning:

  • 8:30 – 9:00: Registration
  • 9:00 – 9:45: Keynote speech: “Feminine Digital Excellence” by Dr. Katherine Getao, former ICT Secretary, former CEO of the ICT Authority, Kenya
  • 9:45 – 10:15: First Workshop: What is the ACM & ACM-W? Dr. Dorota Filipczuk
  • 10:15 – 10:35: Tea break
  • 10:35 – 12:30: Panel discussion: “Breaking Barriers: Challenges and Triumphs of Women in African Tech”
    • Moderator: Jennifer Gachukia
    • Panelists:
      • Increasing women’s representation in cybersecurity (Dr. Paula Musuva, USIU-Africa)
      • Navigating academic research in Africa (Dr. Esther Oduntan, Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro)
      • Promoting STEM education for girls (Prof. Vivian Nwaocha, National Open University of Nigeria)
      • Women in Geospatial Science  (Dr. Carolyne Kabaria, Research Scientist, APHRC)
      • Strengthening computing research by women (Dr. Njeri Ngaruiya, strathmore University)
